and by readers at Amazon.com.
Particularly noteworthy are comments about the book's interesting story, varied messages, and colorful illustrations.
The Adventure of Thomas the Turtle is about a turtle named Thomas,
his sister Sally and their mother Myrtle who live at Placid Pond.
Many years ago, Thomas's father disappeared when he entered a region of the pond
that Myrtle calls the "forbidden region."
Although Thomas was told by his mother to avoid this region,
one day he swims too close and is swept over a waterfall and downstream.
In this frightening experience, Thomas struggles to battle the forces of nature
and is determined to be reunited with this family. His heroic effort is thwarted
when he gets stuck in a thicket.
Luckily, a boy and girl come upon him, free him from the thicket,
and help him to get back to Placid Pond.
The Adventure of Thomas the Turtle emphasizes determination, bravery, adversity,
faith, family values and filial obedience.
